What is a
Labradoodle or Goldendoodle?
The Labradoodle:
Breeding a well-bred Labrador Retriever to a well-bred Standard Poodle will
create an excellent Labradoodle. A hybrid is a healthier animal because it
combines the best of both breeds. A Labradoodles' coat will grow between 4
- 6 inches in length. Coats may be groomed or scissor clipped. They are light to non-shedding, which can be
a plus for allergy sufferers.
The Goldendoodle:
Breeding a well-bred Golden Retriever to a well-bred Standard Poodle will create
an excellent Goldendoodle. A hybrid is a healthier animal because it
combines the best of both breeds. A Goldendoodles' coat will grow longer than a
Labradoodles and will most likely need to be groomed. They are light to non-shedding, which can be a plus for
allergy sufferers.
Different types
of Crosses -
F1
mating
is known as the first line
of parentage and is two purebreds are crossed. An F1 Labradoodle is the pairing of a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle.
They are light to non-shedding, which can be a plus for allergy sufferers.
F1B
mating is an F1 Labradoodle backcrossed to a pure-bred Poodle. The offspring are 75%
poodle and 25% Labrador retriever. Most of these are completely
non-shedding and allergy free.
We are
currently breeding F1 Labradoodles and Goldendoodles. We hope to have our
first litter of F1B Labradoodles in 2009.
